Our first corn maze experience was
in 1998. Jeff and I took the girls and followed the paths for hours
trying to get out! We kept thinking, we are farmers and we can't even
get out of a corn field with paths cut. We had a blast and that sparked
the idea that we might someday.... Well as they say the rest is
history. We opened our first corn maze in Sept 2001 and have been
getting lost and losing folks ever since.
2001

2002 brought the challenge of a drought. As
you can see from the photo, corn was thin and from the ground it
barely reach 4 feet tall. But folks visited and still had fun!
We were really excited
about the 2003 maze. Fun design, new layout.
Then a visitor call Isabelle visited Thursday night September 18th
and wreaked havoc on the corn. But not all was lost so we
spent two weeks cutting corn stalks by hand to find paths and opened
in time for a great pumpkin season.
2004 was a fun maze to navigate and we appreciated
the support of the Fauquier Times Democrat, our local weekly
newspaper.
2005 was a year to celebrate.
We had made it 5 years, and our sponsor the Fauquier Times Democrat
was celebrating 100 years. We can only hope that folks will
still be visiting
Cows-N-Corn in the year of 2101!
2006 Fields of Fun proved to be a very challenging
maze for our visitors. Lots of folks did not make it through
this maze correctly. They got out, but not without a lot of
creative navigation (cheating).
In 2007 we wanted to recognize the discovery of Jamestown 400 years
ago in our own way. So many thought that the cow sailing in
the ship was a nod to the 2nd Pirates of the Caribbean movie.
Just a little Cow fact-
Cows did not come to America until 1611
2008 Virginia is for Lovers
